The Regions of Runeterra

Where civilizations rise and fall, and where wars reshape the world.

Demacia: The Kingdom of Justice

As a strong and lawful kingdom, Demacians pursue justice and righteousness. They are proud of their cultural heritage and glorious military history. However, behind the gleaming walls of Petricite, a hidden civil war is brewing. The fear of magic has pushed mages to the brink, and Sylas has risen as a symbol of revolution, challenging the very foundation of the kingdom.

"Justice will be served. For those who cannot claim it themselves."

- Garen, The Might of Demacia

Notable Champions: Garen, Lux, Fiora, Jarvan IV, Vayne, Sylas.

Noxus: The Empire of Strength

Noxus is a brutal, expansionist empire where anyone, regardless of origin, can rise to power if they possess sufficient strength, ambition, and ruthlessness. With its philosophy of "survival of the fittest", Noxus relentlessly expands its borders, conquering weaker lands. Led by the Trifarix (Swain, Darius, and a mysterious third face), this empire is a fearsome military force, always seeking glory through conquest.

"Loyalty is a choice. Betrayal, a matter of time."

- Swain, the Noxian Grand General

Notable Champions: Darius, Swain, Katarina, Draven, Sion, LeBlanc.

Ionia: The Land of Balance

Once a peaceful archipelago where magic and nature were one, Ionia now struggles to heal the wounds left by the Noxian invasion. The land is deeply divided between those who wish to return to the old peaceful traditions and those who believe violence is the only answer to protect their home. Ancient orders, wandering swordsmen like Yasuo, and shadow ninjas like Zed, are all searching for their own path for a new Ionia.

"The blade is only as calm as the one who wields it."

- Irelia, the Blade Dancer

Notable Champions: Yasuo, Yone, Irelia, Karma, Zed, Shen, Akali, Lee Sin.

Piltover & Zaun: The Twin Cities of Contrast

Piltover, the City of Progress, is the cultural and technological heart of Runeterra, where magical Hextech technology brings prosperity. Directly beneath it lies Zaun, a polluted undercity where reckless experiments and dangerous chem-tech run rampant. The contrast between rich and poor, order and chaos, creates a tense environment, breeding geniuses like Jayce and Viktor, as well as rebels like Jinx and Ekko.

"Evolution is sacrificing what we are for what we could become."

- Viktor, the Machine Herald

Notable Champions: Vi, Jinx, Caitlyn, Jayce, Viktor, Ekko, Warwick.

Champions - The Soul of the Game

Each champion is a story, a set of skills, and a unique fighting style.

In League of Legends, you control a "Champion" with unique abilities. Understanding each champion's role is key to coordinating with teammates and achieving victory. Champions are generally categorized into major role groups, each with a specific duty on the Summoner's Rift.

Assassin

Agile and capable of dealing immense burst damage. Their job is to infiltrate team fights and eliminate key enemy targets like Marksmen or Mages.
Examples: Zed, Akali, Katarina.

Marksman

The primary source of ranged, physical damage for the team. Though fragile, they can unleash devastating damage late in the game if protected.
Examples: Jinx, Caitlyn, Kai'Sa.

Mage

Wield magic to deal area-of-effect damage or control enemies. Their power can change the tide of a team fight.
Examples: Lux, Veigar, Syndra.

Support

Their role isn't to deal damage, but to protect allies, provide vision, and use crowd control to initiate fights.
Examples: Thresh, Lulu, Leona.

Fighter

Durable melee combatants who can both deal and take a good amount of damage. They often lead the charge in fights.
Examples: Darius, Irelia, Sett.

Tank

The living shield of the team. Their mission is to soak up damage, initiate fights, and lock down enemies for their allies.
Examples: Ornn, Malphite, Sejuani.

Gameplay & Strategy

Victory comes not just from individual skill, but from a deep understanding of the game.

Runes: Shaping Your Playstyle

Before a match, you'll choose a Rune page. This system allows you to customize your champion's strengths in various ways. Each main path (Precision, Domination, Sorcery, Resolve, Inspiration) offers unique benefits, from enhancing damage and healing to providing utility. Choosing the right runes for your champion and the matchup is an art.

Items: The Key to Power

Gold earned from defeating minions, monsters, and enemy champions is used to buy items. Mythic Items are the most critical purchase, providing a unique passive that defines your champion's power throughout the game. Combining them with Legendary Items and Situational Items can create a nearly unstoppable champion.

Controlling Major Objectives

The match isn't just about team fights. Controlling major objectives on the map is crucial:

  • Dragon: Slaying Dragons provides permanent buffs to your entire team. Defeating four dragons grants your team a powerful Dragon Soul.
  • Baron Nashor: The Baron buff empowers your minions, allowing you to push lanes and destroy enemy structures quickly. It is the most important buff for closing out a game.
  • Rift Herald: Summon the Rift Herald to charge into enemy turrets, dealing massive damage and opening a path for your team.

The world of Runeterra still holds countless mysteries waiting to be discovered. Every match is a new story, every champion a legend. Choose your champion, step onto the Summoner's Rift, and write your own legacy.
